A native of New Bern, Ricky is the chef and proprietor of Saltbox Seafood Joint, with two locations and a food truck in Durham. Ricky is a graduate of Culinary Institute of America and a U.S. Army veteran.

Ricky has cooked in Washington, D.C. (Galileo with Roberto Donna, Vidalia with Jeffrey Buben, and Equinox with Todd and Ellen Gray), Chicago (Frontera Grill, Charlie Trotter’s, and Tru), and Paris (Apicius with Jean-Pierre Vigato, Le Cerf in Alsace with Michel Husser, and Le Violin d’Ingres with Christian Constant). He has been featured in Saveur, Travel & Leisure, Southern Living, The New Yorker (The Week), Garden & Gun, Our State, Vogue, USA Today, Eater, Bravo TV and Tasting Table. Plus, he has appeared on Food Network's Iron Chef America.
